As we discussed in our last blog post, Matcha can help prevent and fight heart disease. Matcha contains naturally-occurring chemicals called catechins that have been proven beneficial in the fight against and prevention of heart disease. These catechins have been shown to play a role in preventing atherosclerosis, cardiac hypertrophy, cardiomyopathy, endothelial dysfunction, hypertension, ischemic heart diseases, and congestive heart failure. The catechins present in Matcha (and green tea in general) also possess anti-inflammatory properties that can help regulate blood pressure and lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides (blood fats), both of which are associated with death from heart disease and stroke. What are some other ways you can decrease your risk of heart disease and improve your overall health? The American Heart Association’s Healthy for Good movement is a great place to start! Eat smart, add color, move more, and be well.
-

-
Add Color – Fruits and veggies are not only colorful, they are packed with vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, protein, calcium, fiber, and antioxidants! Matcha is packed with antioxidants (as much as 10 cups of regular green tea), iron, potassium, and vitamins A and C!
-
Move More – As little as 22 minutes of daily exercise can get you on the right track! Increase your metabolism and energy levels with Matcha; experience a slower, longer-lasting energy release (4-6 hours) without the crash, due to the combination of caffeine and L-Theanine!
- Be Well – Keeping your mind healthy by managing stress and getting adequate sleep can have a positive effect on your physical health! Matcha contains L-Theanine, an amino acid known to help relax and focus the mind.
So, TAKE HEART!
Caring for your body doesn’t have to be impossible or overwhelming. Small steps, such as making better food choices, moving more, and taking care of your mind, can lead to big cardiovascular gains! Matchafying heart-healthy foods, your workouts, and your mind are just part of the fight! What are you doing to take care of your heart, this month and every month?
