The Soil Food Web

Soil health is dependent on the complex network of relationships between fungi, worms, insects, microscopic organisms, and plants. Healthy soil is teeming with life, and at Ancient Leaf Tea, we cultivate our plants by feeding and regenerating the soil.

Digging Deeper...

How we can Regenerate Soil

Here at Ancient Leaf Tea we practice a localized version of Korean Natural Farming (KNF), in which we cultivate Indigenous Microorganisms (IMOs) from the undisturbed forest floor nearby. These microbes are the root of the magic in soil regeneration!

Keep it Local

Growing our Amendments

We supplement our IMOs with worm castings, fermented plant juices, probiotic cultures, herbal tinctures, compost teas, and more, made on-island with as many of our own farm-grown resources as we can. These nutrients are vital to supporting soil regeneration!

Inoculating Soil...

Feeding That Which Feeds Us

To mobilize the fungi and microbes that we cultivate, we brew aerated, fungally dominant compost teas. After about 30 hours, this nutrient-rich inoculate is ready to put in a backpack sprayer and applied to our plants, mulch, compost, and soil!
