π΅ 100% Ceremonial Grade β Grown in Japan
Made exclusively from the tips of the youngest tea plants. Shade-grown, hand-picked (never machine picked), and stone-ground on granite wheels to an ultra-fine ~10 micron grind β the standard of true ceremonial grade matcha. At Ancient Leaf, we never compromise on quality. Not all matcha is created equal β learn what makes ceremonial grade matcha different and why it matters for your cup.
β¨ Why Ceremonial Grade?
- Vivid, bright green color β a sign of high chlorophyll content from shade-growing
- Smooth, naturally sweet flavor β no bitterness, no additives, 100% pure matcha
- High in L-theanine β the shade-growing process boosts this calming amino acid, delivering focused energy without the jitters
- Ultra-fine ~10 micron grind β silkier texture, effortless froth, and better nutrient absorption than culinary grade
- First harvest leaves only β the youngest, most nutrient-dense leaves from the season
- 100g β 50β70 servings β your daily ritual, covered for weeks
π Ceremonial vs. Culinary Grade
- Ceremonial grade β youngest leaves, ~10 micron grind, smooth and sweet. Best enjoyed whisked with hot water on its own.
- Culinary grade β older leaves, coarser grind (20β30+ microns), bolder and slightly bitter. Designed for lattes, smoothies, and baking.
If you're drinking it daily, ceremonial grade is worth it β in flavor, color, and nutritional bioavailability.
π What to Look for in Quality Matcha
- Color: Bright, vivid green β not yellow or olive-toned
- Origin: Japan β centuries of tradition and ideal growing conditions make it the gold standard
- Grind: Stone-ground to ~10 microns for silky texture and superior absorption
- Freshness: Small-batch, recently harvested, stored in airtight packaging
- Ingredients: 100% pure matcha β nothing added
π΅ How to Prepare Your Matcha
Traditional Whisk Method (Hot)
- Matcha: 1 tsp (2g) per serving
- Water: 2 oz at 175Β°F (not boiling β boiling water turns matcha bitter)
- Sift matcha into your bowl or cup.
- Add 2 oz of 175Β°F water.
- Whisk in a brisk W or M motion until frothy.
- Add additional hot water or steamed milk to taste. Enjoy immediately.
Iced / Shaken Method
- Combine 1 tsp matcha with 2 oz hot water in a shaker or jar.
- Whisk or stir until smooth.
- Add ice and your milk of choice.
- Shake or stir well and enjoy.
π‘ Tip: Always sift your matcha before whisking for the smoothest, lump-free result. Store in an airtight container away from light and moisture.
